She has an active private studio, and since 2004, she has been awarded 20 teaching awards from the AMEB for achieving the best student results in exams from all levels, from Preliminary to Licentiate, across all instrumental and vocal categories.
Many of Jocelyn’s students have been the recipients of university, conservatorium and high school music performance scholarships and have gained positions in prestigious programmes such as AYO, National Music Camp, SYO and Tanglewood. The most gifted have been accepted as students in elite institutions such as Julliard, Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music and Guildhall Schools, in addition to Australia’s leading tertiary programmes. Many of her students have gained prizes in Australian and international competitions.
Jocelyn was the syllabus consultant for the AMEB Series 4 grade books and is the AMEB NSW Woodwind Chief examiner and Federal AMEB examiner. She performs with the Windfall sextet and has played in the TSO, QSO, SSO and AOBO orchestras. She also works as associate artist on piano with some of Sydney’s leading flutists and has authored and published a large number of books and CDs for flute in her role as a partner of Fluteworthy. These publications aim to provide comprehensive technical resources for all levels of players, as well as attractive and appealing repertoire compilations to expand resources for teachers and students.
Jocelyn studied with some of the world’s leading flute pedagogues, and now particularly enjoys using her wide experience to create optimal pathways for each individual student so they can maximise their potential and foster their love of flute playing.
